Aldabra Tortoise

Latin Name: Aldabrachelys gigantea

Sex: Currently unknown due to age

Aldabra Tortoises are one of the large species of tortoises, growing to be around 4 foot (48 inches) for males and 3 foot (36 inches) for females and have a lifespan of 100+ years. Their diet consists of grasses, flowers, cactus pads, leafy greens as well as commercial tortoise food and they will also eat the fruit such as melon. Aldabra Tortoises require a basking spot of 80 to 95 Fahrenheit (26-35 Celsius) with humidity levels of 55-65% but in the wild with the rainy season this can go up to 85% for 2 to 3 months. They do enjoy a soak so providing a water bowl/pool for them to get in and cool down will be ideal, this will also help raise humidity levels.
