Asian Common Toad

Latin Name: Duttaphrynus melanostictus

Asian Common Toads are also known as Black-Spined Toads due to the markings over their backs. Males grow to be 8-10cm (2- 3 inches) and females slightly bigger at 9-11cm (3-4 inches). These amphibians make great beginner pets as they are docile, hardy and easy to care for. Asian Common Toads need to be maintained at 24-26 Celsius (75-78 Fahrenheit) with relatively high humidity levels of 70%. A large water bowl, alongside misting, will not only keep humidity levels high but these water loving toads will go for a swim and keep hydrated. Asian Common Toads eat a variety of insects such as earthworms, crickets and cockroaches.
