African house snakes have a life span of 15 and 20 years. The females grow to 120cm (3foot), while the males are normally only around 60cm (2ft) in length. African house snakes make great beginner snakes due to the relaxed temperament and regular handling from young, they will enjoy being handled. African house snakes will require a basking spot of 32 Celsius (90 Fahrenheit) with very low humidity levels. Like most snakes, african house snakes are carnivorous and will eat defrosted rats and mice. They require a water bowl at the cooler end of their enclosure, this ensures the humidity levels stay low as well as somewhere to drink from and will need to be big enough for them to fit themselves in as this will help loosen shed and cool down.
