Green Tree Python

Latin Name:  Morelia viridis

Sex: Currently Unknown

Juvenile Green Tree Pythons are typically yellow, red or dark brown-black in colours, as they mature their colours will change to the bright green. Green Tree Pythons grow to be between 4-6 feet (1.2-1.8 meters) in length with males usually being smaller than females and have a life span of 12 to 20 years. Green Tree Pythons like a basking spot of 86-88 Fahrenheit (30-31 Celsius) and humidity levels of 40-70%. A water bowl can be added to the floor but being a arboreal species that spend little to no time on the ground, the water bowl can be elevated up near their perch. Misting is another way to no only keep humidity levels high but some snakes will drink the water droplets from the surrounding foliage and enclosure walls. Green Tree Pythons can be aggressive but with the right amount of handling when young, they can become tolerant to human contact.
