Latin Name: Sanzinia madagascariensis
Malagasy Tree Boas get up to 2 metres in length and have a lifespan of 15-20 years. As their name might suggest they spend the daylight hours in trees but do most of their hunting at night on the ground. Malagasy Tree Boas will eat defrosted rodents and small birds. A large water bowl will not only keep the snake hydrated but provides them a place to soak shedding skin and to cool down as well as keeping the humidity levels high as Malagasy Tree Boas require humidity levels of around 70%. A basking spot of 75-80 Fahrenheit (23-26 Celsius) is also required to maintain good health.
