The average size of an adult painted wood turtle is 17cm (6.5inches) and can live up to 80 years. Paint wood turtles are both land and water based, a large bowl or tray filled of water, the depth of the turtles shell, surrounded by damp soil and dried leaves would make a perfect set up. They require a basking spot of 32 °C (90 °F) and high humidity levels of 95%, this can be maintained by regular misting. Painted wood turtles should eat a balanced mixture of earthworm, mealworm and snails as well as fruits and lettuce leaves.
